Speciality :  Contemporary art

French / Italian / English

Italian, a lawyer by training and a lover of contemporary art, she transformed her passion and in 2006 created the gallery Exit contemporary art with her partner Florence Provost. Her goal was to bring together contemporary art and people so that they can find and take ownership of it.

The Exit Contemporary Art Gallery defends a generation of artists who reflect on how art is made and presented, focusing on the idea behind a work of art and its concept or aesthetic.
These artists, beyond representing a current or style, are part of an approach, an ethics of art, in the intellectual, cultural and social context of our time.

In October 2010, Virginie Barrou Planquart created in Paris the gallery that bears her name. Dedicated to contemporary creation, the gallery promotes and supports emerging or already recognized artists with a strong and unique identity. They create universalist works in which visual emotion and affect of memory dominate. In favor of an atypical and demanding programming, the gallery brings together French and foreign artists who, each in their language, approach the viewer with freshness and immediacy.

Having managed to make her gallery a relevant place of sharing and dissemination, Virginie Barrou Planquart deploys her activity in the gallery and participates in many international fairs, regularly presenting her artists in New York, Miami, London, Brussels, Basel and Hong Kong. Anxious to support the public's eye and initiate dialogues between artists, the gallery continues to deepen its reflections to better understand the growing influence of pop culture on the development of contemporary art, its extent, its analysis and its various modes of transposition. Between tradition and modernity, the gallery is exposed through different spaces, whether physical or digital, currently at our disposal.
